Magento 1.0 is now out of beta

Posted by: Loopion In: Web 2.0| Web development

Magento CMS ecommerce plateformThe great and powerful Magento e-commerce CMS is now out of beta. I followed this project with an eye cat and already test and proposed it to a customer in my previous company (FullSix).

You should try it just to get an idea of the powerfullness of this e-commerce plateform.

Key features :

  • One-Click Upgrades (geek styled ;-) )
  • Control multiple websites and stores from one Administration Panel with ability to share as much or as little information as needed
  • Flexible Coupons (pricing rules) with ability to restrict to stores, customer groups, time period, products, and categories. (this feature will pull down some company ???)
  • Multi-Lingual (a basic feature for all CMS)
  • Support for Multiple Currencies
  • One-Page Checkout
  • Checkout without account/Guest Checkout
  • Shipping to multiple addresses in one order
  • View, edit, create and fulfill orders from admin panel.
  • Feature-rich Customer Accounts
  • Re-orders from account
  • Batch Import and Export of catalog
  • Advanced Pricing Rules and support for Special Prices (awesome !)
  • Layered / Faceted Navigation for filtering of products
  • Product comparisons (one of my favorite)
  • Product Reviews
  • Multiple Images with Zoom
  • Admin Dashboard for Report Overview

One missing thing, is the possibility to connect your products to a centralize product database from a 3rd part application. For example : a comptability plateform.
